my ex-girlfriend ruined the word "regulate" for me. she would use it when talking to her girlfriends about changing their respective boyfriends' "bad" habits... ie, "he left the toilet seat up again? looks like you're going to have to regulate."

teachee. It isn't a word, but at my church (there is a program called home teaching,) it is adopted slang for those you teach. What happened to student?

I haven't heard that in years. Just confirms that the CC is like Mt Druitt in the 70's, but with better shops and less ugh boots.
Works for all: "I ain't", "you ain't", "he/she/it ain't", "we ain't", "y'all ain't",
"they ain't".

However, it is used by educated speakers, for example, when they want to strike a jocular or demotic note, as in fixed expressions like Say it ain't so or You ain't just whistling Dixie. · The stigmatization of ain't leaves us with no happy alternative for use in first-person questions. The widely used aren't I?, though illogical, was found acceptable for use in speech by a majority of the Usage Panel in an earlier survey, but in writing there is no acceptable substitute for the admittedly stilted am I not?
