It really isn't.

You get two guitar players, each with 100w tube heads and 4x12 half stacks and they turn them up loud enough to blow the cuffs of their jeans around with each barre chord? No. You don't own a pair of 2x12 cabs that's going to bring a bass guitar up to that level. And neither does anyone else.

I see what you're saying, but proper EQing makes all the difference in the world.

I use a pair of 1X12's or 1X15's in a LOUD metal band and was able to be heard just fine. Both guitarists did exactly what you're describing.

I think a pair of Avatar 2x12s would perform outstandingly better than the other two alternatives.

1) The Acoustic 8x10 can't handle a lot of volume before the speakers start to distort. Period.

2) The Carvin would be an improvement in tone and quality, but wouldn't have the accurate midrange dispersion of four vertically staggered twelves.

3) I would argue that, despite the Acoustic 8x10 having more cone area, four Avatar twelves could still get significantly louder due to the improvement in quality and driver efficiency.

The Avatar 212's. I would prefer this over 410's. Feels like I'm flip-flopping alot.

I think it's really just a weight issue. Not completely sure, though.

Me personally, I prefer two separate 4x10 cabs as opposed to a single cab 8x10. The reason being that I can only use one of them for smaller gigs or just practicing by myself. Also, and this is debatable, I think two 4x10's are actually more portable than an 8x10 refrigerator.

Power handling is not everything - loudness is.

Loudness is only important if you play in a metal or doom band.

You can't be using very good 2X12s then...a high quality double 2X12 stack will easily handle in excess of 2KW and, if vertically stacked, will destroy any 100W guitar stack.

The Super Twelve will definitely blow your ears off, if that's what you want. It can go insanely-loud.

I don't have the Super Twelve myself, but I own Barefaced Big Baby T and Baby sub. When stacked they're really close to the Super Twelve. If you want to get tinnitus, the ST can make your dreams come true. Or get the Super Fifteen, and be the Boom-king who has the most enviable hearing loss in the town!
