I probably would've done the same, but I kinda like the flames.
That said, if you absolutely hate them that much, just hit it with a quick coat of spray paint and be done with it. You can do whatever you want without feeling like you're wrecking a pristine paint job, and I bet the long term wear will be pretty interesting (ie, Joe Strummer's tele).

You guys have given me so many options! It's sweet! haha, for now the flames are sticking around. I figure I'm never going to own a bass with flames on it again so I'll enjoy it while it lasts, then refinish it if I feel so desired in the future... Alternatively, I have had a conversation regarding continuing the flames in tatoo form up my arm... but then I could never play a different bass ever again.
