What would your 2 basses be?

Well I have two and honestly that's all I really need. Both G&L. A 94 LB-100 w/ flats and a 97 L2000 w/ rounds. Now when you get into "wants" a nice Roscoe 5'er would be sweet. I'm very satisfied w/ what I have though. So those..

I'm cool with a couple of Ps. Maybe flats on one. I used to play fretless a lot, and one of those would be nice, but not very utilitarian for what I usually play.

I would really like to have a hollow or semi-hollow to string with flats someday, in which case I'd likely keep rounds on both Ps.

I'm not very picky.

Which 2 bass combo would you find most versatile?

I had been thinking a 4-string P with flats and a 5-string J with rounds but have given up on 5 string basses.

Now I'm beginning to think I'd prefer 2 P's, one fretted one fretless.

Or maybe one should be a J for slat tone.

OK - I'll say a fretted PJ and a fretless P.

I got Pbass 4 strings and Jazz 5 strings - both Fender and both has rounds. From time to time,I put flats on P bass tho...

As other folks have mentioned, I am thinking of just having 2 basses as well.

I would've thought a safe way to go would've been my MIA Fender Jazz and my MIJ Fender fretless Jazz but I never ever get quite comfortable enough on fretless...

Amid all this talk of having an "arsenal" over the years and having Acoustics etc.
for that time you "NEED" other tones, I can reflect back now and see that all I've ever needed up to this point for gigs for the most part could've been accomplished with a decent Fender Jazz bass and Precision bass.

I have been thinking though of going back to where I came in... a MIA P and J... weird, but sort of peaceful feeling...
