What year did you get your first 6string bass?

I am curious to see around which years many of the players here started adding 6string basses to their arsenals. It must have been in the mid 90's when I started noticing high end builders adding 6 string models, IE Modulus, Tobias, though it was a few years later when every once in a while I would see them played live. I got my first 6 string in 2009.

I think it was 99 or 2000. I had been playing around ten years, 5 string for about 6 of those.

Just bought my first after 17 years of playing. Should be in tomorrow. It's a Schecter Stiletto Studio 6 in honey satin. I've played mainly 5 strings for the last 13 years and decided to finally go get a 6.

I got my first last year, and Ibanez SR506, after only playing for 3 years. I think I did it out of impulse,but hey, it sounded much better than my 4 string, and I just thought why not? lol

Me Too! (tm AOL) Got an Alembic blank plank fretless Epic 6 in 97. This was not too long after my first 5er an Aria Pro II Magna.

The Epic was sort of like jumping into the deep end of the pool even though I started playing bass on upright.

I now play full step downtuned (or regularly tuned as well, ah!)
4ers, Hipshot bass extenders equipped
