I play GTA5 but beat the game a decade ago so it’s just random fun.

Still a huge fan of geometry wars lol.

I still like to log into Tetris 99 and destroy.

Need For Speed games have kept a place in rotation as well.

Kids are grown, less video gaming. The youngest and I still break out the Ps2 and play Battlefront (Geonosis, Spire is the best).

I find myself going round in circles. I love open world stuff, STALKER series and despite their faults have kept me immersed on and off for years. The last game I bought last year was STALKER 2, finished it and started again. Ditto with Assassins Creed Odyssey I can't remember how many times I've played it, I keep starting New Game+ over the years. Today I'm back on Far Cry 5 (Arcade) but have bought all the previous games when I bought it late 20th Century? or about 2000 whenever FC1 first came out. Not very impressed with FC 6 finished it when it came out but never went back.
Of course Fallout 2 & 3 - I played 3 again late last year with the expansion packs, but I think I need to get New Vegas - didn't buy it yet and believe I may have missed a trick.
I bought NMS the day it came out and I absolutely loved it, everyone else panned it to bits but I just loved the chill atmosphere and meandering randomly across space. What killed it for me was the constant upgrades (improving the game?), vehicles, multiplayer (not into MP) and the fact in one upgrade I built a base on a paradise world then after an early upgrade it became a very toxic world where survival was really hard. Tried the newest iterations but far too complicated for a 63 year old now. Other than Odyssey not really interested in dungeons and dragons and magic, which Is why I've stayed clear of Witcher and it's ilk.:)

Easily more memorable and fun than Fallout 3 or 4. My wife just finished it, though it is shows its age graphically.

I'm thinking it's time I dusted off my Valve games. Always solid.
I couldn't find anyone to play Portal2 Co-op with me so, I literately played it with 2 controllers on split screen and got pretty far until it was impossible to switch fast enough

I recently began playing Death Stranding. It's a weird game. I like it, but I don't really understand it. If I were to try to summarize it, it's about a post-apocalypse courier (played by Norman Reedus) that travels around a wasteland delivering packages while avoiding bandits and interdimensional beings that feed on corpses (but only in the rain, which is like poison, and them doing so causes massive explosions). You also carry around an unborn fetus in pod strapped to your chest that you have some kind of psychic connection with, and it is also psychically connected to its brain-dead mother which creates a bridge to the afterlife so you can detect the interdimensional beings. So yeah, just some lightweight, casual gameplay.

I'd been playing Baldurs Gate 3 in my free time... it's been many months now. I was moving along at a decent pace, but have run into some really tough boss fights now that I'm nearing the end. I believe my choices are to (1) do more fetch quests to level up my party, (2) do online research to optimize my party, or (3) lower the difficulty (boo, hiss). Actually, I chose (4): put the game aside for awhile.

I'm currently hooked (pun intended) by Dredge, a game about fishing that has a Lovecraftian edge. Nothing fancy, but fun and relaxing


I subscribe to XBox GamePass, so I've also downloaded for "free" and sampled the following:
  • Doom: the Dark Ages - possibly less platforming than Eternal, but also less run'n'gun, more "stand and fight". Doom-y enough
  • Clair Obscur: have barely touched it, but it's beautiful and I'll definitely return to it
  • Dishonored (the 1st one): stealth FPS, nicely done. I plan to finish this and also the sequel at some point, I've heard both are great

Recommendations from the previous few years:
  • Hades: 2D action roguelike with beautifully written story and music
  • Disco Elysium: a 2D RPG in which you solve a mystery. Weird-in-a-good-way, and compelling
  • Cyberpunk 2077: buggy at release, but now a fantastic experience, including the Phantom Liberty DLC. Worth it to unlock multiple endings, especially in the DLC. Bonus: Keanu Reeves doing his thing as rockstar Johnny Silverhand

I play board games too. My wife and I have epic 1 vs 1 duels of Terraforming Mars, and Wingspan. Got a new game for my birthday that is beautiful called Harmonies, pretty simple but looks cool. Gotta catch my wife in the right mood to learn a new game!

I still play Scythe, Power Grid, and Seven Wonders from time to time.

I’m a late in life console gamer convert. Played the original Pong in the 70s but was mostly an arcade game kid in the 80s. Still love a good pinball game.

During the lockdowns got into a PS4 then a PS5 to play COD with some buddies almost every night for a couple of years. That’s tapered off. Mostly into driving games…F1, WRC, Gran Turismo. Have a wheel and pedal set. Play maybe a couple of times a week these days.
