We saw "Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse" yesterday. It's even better than the first one, IMO. There are a lot of Easter eggs in it that I didn't catch, mainly because I've never read the comics.

1 and 2 are supposed to be great sci fi masterpieces but they bore me to tears. I've never seen 3, and Resurrection is cheesy and ridiculous, but entertaining. The whole franchise does nothing for me.

The first one was amazing for the time it came out. No one had seen anything like it as it was the first to really depict a more dirty/gritty production design (the first Star Wars to a lesser degree) and certainly killed off the characters in a non formula order (of course, now everyone knows who survived but that was far from the obvious set up). Has to be understood in the context of when it was released. Then, of course, Scott following it with Blade Runner (though that initially tanked at the box office).

Second one does less for me as it's more Ms Rambo on Mars...

Alien on the theater big, big screen was impressive for sure. Aliens also gets two thumbs up, but the subsequent installments are just meh.

Alien 3 would have been a lot better if the studio had let Fincher just make the movie he wanted to. Resurrections? Awful, but I'm sure I'll watch it again at some point.

We watched this tonight. TSO just received a copy on Amazon Women on the Moon. I am really looking forward for the second installment.

Ugh. Why can't they just leave a classic alone? It's clear that "Wonka" is not made for my demographic, so it makes sense that the trailer makes me not want to see this movie.

This guy's not as cringeworthy as the Johnny Depp portrayal. Now that was a truly bad movie.

I'm in an empty theater watching Asteroid City and I'm so incredibly bored. I don't like Wes Anderson movies. Every character in this movie is a sociopath. The story that's loosely connecting one scene to the next is marginally interesting but it's taking forever.

This is easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Terrible production, awful special effects, mediocre acting, barely a semblance of plot (and even then it was incredibly derisive and trite.) Truly cringe.

In other words, highly recommended if you need a good laugh.

I'm not a fan. As I mentioned in a previous response here, he's all style and no substance. However, he's one of the few remaining directors that gets to make whatever he wants with no interference. That's rare these days.

I watched that through the first episode of season four. I'm usually OK with a slow burn story but that began to seriously drag ass in season three. If you finish it, let me know if it's worth going back for the rest.
