I've only been paying for Netflix the last few years cuz my dad watches it from his house. Today they finally cut him off. They've been threatening this for years. How long have they been around? That's how long I've been a customer, but I'm done. No mas.
I really liked that series, well done. Saw it years ago.
Been on a binge watching old movies again. TCM has been showing films from the 1920's and '30's, with some old subtitled foreign films thrown in.

I was hoping for a fun "popcorn" movie, but instead, it bored me. Most of the humor fell flat, it was the same old CGI, and there was nothing special about the story.

I've been really looking forward to seeing The Creator for a while. Science fiction movies don't come out often. The special effects were incredible. Making robots look completely real in ways that would be impossible with practical effects was perfect in this movie. Fantastic looking movie. Solid performers. Denzel's kid is a great actor. This movie was so deeply and irrevocably entrenched up its own ass that it was nearly unwatchable. The story stunk. No logic. No establishment of background information to make anything believable and realistic in a movie that's presenting itself as a realistic portrayal of the future and artificial intelligence and all that will come with that. The story is weak. The character motivation is weak. I kept hoping for something that would redeem this totally predictable plot line and left completely disappointed.
I wanted to see it until I realized the main character is from the HBO series Ballers where he played a leading role. He wasn't so great there, so I gave this flick a pass.

John David Washington? His performance in this movie is fine and in no way contributes to its suckiness. It's the story that's the problem.

I've watched it more times than I can remember, and it's still every bit as funny as the first time. It's a true treasure. As with all great entertainment I've experienced over the years, I appreciate it even more today. And Pryor's lasting influence is incalculable.
