Finished The Responder on Britbox. Tough watch but totally worth the time. Some A+ actors you’ll never see anywhere else, really fine performances. IMDB scores it 7.4, its a solid 8, IMO.

I think the biggest difference between the shows we get on American television and these streamed dramas on British television is the fact that many of the actors on Britbox and the like are NOT physically attractive. They’d never get roles here despite their ability to deliver solid performances. If anything i find them much more credible, it lends a sense of authenticity- there is no suspension of disbelief- i find it much easier to engage with the story line.

If you liked the movie, definitely watch the show. So much better.

I'm planning on it. Might be the last thing I watch before my wife cancels her netflix account.

Ads don't bother me either. Perhaps it is a generational thing since I grew up with them too.
I don't get the lengths people go to and the prices people pay to avoid ads. I actually like how some of the streaming services do ads now, they tell you how many there will be or how long it will last. Quite convenient so I know how long I have if I need to get up or do something else.

I don't mind it on the streaming apps. It's pretty annoying on youtube where you get 2-3 ads to watch a 3 minute video.

So it looks like for season 3 of Silo they're doing Shift? Kind of wish they'd continue with Juliette, but I get it.

Hopefully it’s not cancelled like The Expanse was.

I love the books and saw the first few episodes and didn't like what I was seeing and stopped, but watched the first season and half the second this weekend. This show suffers from the same problem as For All Mankind. Bad writing. They suck at telling stories. The book took its time slowly revealing the mystery, but the way the show is going about it is infuriating.

What can I say, I'm not much of a critic. I've really enjoyed the show. I like a slow burn and deliberate pacing. I've mentioned Bones and All as an example.

We watched "Send Help" on Saturday. A well-written story, and Rachel McAdams is excellent! It's billed as a 'dark comedy', but there is nothing funny in it.

I thought the same thing on my first viewing. It grew on me the second time. Something about it rubbed me the wrong way. I would've preferred a straight hard sci fi movie instead of sci fi comedy. But I'm glad it exists. At least there's some sci fi doing well.

I may have written this further up the thread, but I'll repeat anyway.

The novel was written by and for science nerds. I loved the detailed descriptions of what was happening and why. The movie sidestepped a lot of the background science to appeal to a wider audience. IMO, it turned out about as well as could be expected, but could have been better.

Too many jokes. Toomuch of a biologist figuring out how to pilot a spaceship without training. But it wo uldn't have been successful without it. A teeny, tiny hopeful part of me thinks maybe a kid who saw this would be interested in science and head down that path, like kids used to with Star Trek. I know that won't happen. But would be nice.

Short Circuit 2 - haven't seen this since I was a kid. I absolutely loved the original growing up, but all I remember about this film is that the robot gets absolutely mauled. It was horrifying to my young mind, like watching a beloved childhood friend gutted and bleeding out in front of me. We'll see how I take it now. It's already far different than I recall. Maybe I blocked it all out?

...check out their earlier movie "Resolution" , which features several of the same characters as "The Endless" (and really ought to be seen first).

Watched Resolution yesterday morning. The same high quality scripts, acting, and uniqueness in approach as The Endless. Same universe, different times, maybe 10 or 15 years difference (I think). And using some of same characters, too. Some tie-ins were obvious, some were subtle. I can see where watching Resolution first is recommended, but not required, for explaining characters and occurrences in The Endless. Both films on a low budget, too. Thanks for turnin' me on to Resolution. Both films top-notch, in my opinion.

Did some looking around about other films by Justin and Aaron. It seems their film Spring also has ties to the above films. I saw Spring a long time ago and remember liking it. Now I gotta rewatch it again LOL.
