Not that slapping, popping and tapping is really my thing, but your clips just sounded like one big dirty wet fart.
That Sunn rig sounded nearly as bad as the crappy 10w Drive practice amp I was forced to play through at my lesson today.
I think some cabs benefit from tweeters, and depending on the music I reckon a Hi-Fi sound from a cab with a good tweeter sounds great.
Not all tweeters are hissy and crackly either. I've played through cabs with tweeters that have sounded well rounded and warm, with nice defined, but not overstated highs.
Tweeters have their place IMHO
