Stay your course, stay in your budget, listen the the advice the others have given. And remember: ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS!! Play the amp before you buy it. (If possible.)

yea, im gonna play a few different ones befor i hand over my cash...thats forsure. And I do plan on going 2 x 10...just for the volume....do u have any idea how sad it is trying to get a 15 watt amp to be heard over a drumset...lol its past 10 on volume, bass and treble and it sounds like ****....so i asked for one for christmas, but my parents know nothing about bass amps, so they gave me a cheque for 500 bucks and i gladly accepted....i can always throw another hundred or 200 dollars of my own on that, but someone said that the yorkville 400 watt 1 x 15 combo costs 650 new

the store that i looked in, that thing was 899 new...
I just think i deserve a better amp than what i have right now...i may play with just a pick, but i can play rancid, anti-flag, less than jake and so much more...
i think the time has come where i need a better setup to be a better bass player. i cant even set up my own tone or sound because if theres not enough of bass or tone you wont be able to hear it over the drums...

im seriously considering a xm200t...but ill check out some ampegs and peaveys...i would realy love a brand new amp, but like i said before, its not biggy if its used.

now that i read that over you were talking about a yorkville head for 650...not a combo lol....
yea...but if i got a head is have to buy a 2 x 10 cab or a 1 x 15...and that would cost another 300 bucks rite?
thats almost 1k...a lil outta my price range...
i may stick to a yorkville combo tho

just got back from the music store...
wow, that xm200t is amazing...
it was on 3 out of 10 and it filled the store...
the sound was amazing, and it was 629 *canadian* which i thought was awsome...
wow im physced, i think i gonnna get it ...
but i wanna try out that ampeg b100r, but they didnt have one there.

Yea, the Yorkville stuff is really loud. If you need even more volume, you can add on two 8-ohm extension speakers to really rock your nuts (as well as having a cool looking combo-stack).

Yea... I know that 1k might be a bit out of your pricerange, but think for a minute...

How long do you expect to be in a band, and playing music for? WILL this combo be big enough for you to play medium sized halls, and smaller outdoor gigs? I personally chose to go all out and go all tube my first second i had, but that was 4 years after i started playing. I started out with that yorkville combo, and now I realize, it wasn't the right size for what I wanted it to do. Maybe.... get a medium sized combo, and then, when you feel like you need more power, get a cab, like a 4x10. Then get a head when uw ant more power. The extra cab might push enough air to tide you over until you really can afford something worthwhile.

LOOK USED TOO!!! I bet u can find a used GK 800 RB, and a used 2x10 cab for under 800$ CAN.

The Yorkeville head i was talking about was at Mother's music, in Edmonton, AB. Their prices are ALWAYS waaaay more than they should be, so i bet u could find that head for under $600.

Now wait a minute,

I just bought an XS400 head and I have no problems with mine at all, actually I find the unit to be very well built, it delivers the goods generously and it sounds great. I checked these details mentioned by SMASH at the store and found none, as for the botched electronics that SMASH is referring to, I believe it was an intermittent blend pot. I actually got interested in this amp because of the review that SMASH and a couple of other guys wrote not to long ago who tried it out.

I suggest that you go to your local music store and try one; I think you will be pleasantly surprised just as I was.

i see wat ur talking about...
but i could awlways hook another 1 x 15 cab or 2 x 10 combo up to th xm200t and that would be plenty for any show ill be playin in the next 2 years...

im also saving up for a Musicman SUB or a Fender Jazz...so thay xm200t would be fine for now, but your right, i will certainly keep my options open...

That's all true. You could most likely use someone elses cab, or even setup for shows, if you really don't have enough power.

The only reason i'm trying to push the yorkville stuff, is because it's a canadian company, and since you live in canada, you can use this to your advantage, because their equipment will be cheaper here.

Any 200W combo would do you just fine, i'm sure for most shows, there'll probably be a P.A. at all shows u play, so your volume won't be too big a deal, just the volume you intend to jam at should be your biggest concern. I jammed with my 100W combo for close to 3 years, and had minimal problems keeping up, soundwise. A 200W combo will satisfy most of your needs. I'm just looking down the road, because this little thing called GAS comes into effect after u start buying equipment. :D
