**Copilot Orbit- Sweet! I'd been thinking about ditching the Brown Dog, and this seals the deal (though im still attached and having a hard time getting rid of it). The gate is not as strong as the BD but the fuzz sounds good on its own, and with the fm(?) side mixed in it does great lofi stuff- in some settings, sweeping the exp pedal does a great bitcrushing impression. The Orbit, Prunes&Custard, and Ringmod do just about everything I like about the Geiger Counter, but better.. Ive had the GC for a few months and I just haven't been inspired by it. I think the Orbit may have sealed the GC's fate as well, and Im going to try it out in my Ableton chain. (GC probably won't be "going" any time soon) The Geiger counter 'does' those 3 pedals pretty well though-- it could cover a lot of ground in a smaller set up.
**3Leaf Groove Regulator and Boss RC-50- I got these as a packaged deal that I couldn't pass up, and being that I already have an RC-50, this new one will be trade bait for a 2880 to replace the current RC. The 3leaf and Grinder sound a bit different. This makes sense I guess being that the Grinder is nearly a 1:1 clone but with some component upgrades/differences, and the 3leaf obviously which sacrifices a few controls for convenience (smaller size, ease of use). I don't know what other changes were made to the 3leaf, if any. It very well may sound more like the original, but I was surprised at the difference nonetheless. In my short time with the 3leaf, I can say that while I would do it slightly different (if I could), Spencer has basically dialed in one big sweet spot for a bass player on that pedal, and it sounds good just about anywhere on the dial. Very funky and reminds me a
little bit of the fx25 and clips I've heard of the robotalk1. Whether or not the 3leaf replaces the Grinder, the Grinder won't be "going" anywhere, but the 3leaf might-- I need my knobs!
**DOD Octoplus- I like it! Similar to the OC-2, a little fatter and rounder and works perfectly with my Freqbox. The OC-2 still isn't going anywhere, but the BMS is!
Going:
**XO Bass Micro Synth: I built a 'synth' around it and aside from using it for fun (it is a damn fun pedal), it was only being used as a filter/eq between the OC-2 and Freqbox. The Freqbox tracks the Octoplus wonderfully, so its replacing the BMS.
**Empress Trem. BigO has first dibs, otherwise its for sale this weekend. I played with it for a while tonight and almost backed out(lots of fun into a BMS for a 'step filter' effect). So I took it off my board and put it in the box. I don't
need it so it just needs to go.
**Chunk Brown Dog Fuzz: Great fuzz, but the Devi Bass Fuzz, Orbit, and Freqbox are now covering my gated fuzz/squarewave needs. One person in line for it, if he's not still interested Im going to list it this weekend.
**Tentacle Love Super Fuzz: Versatile fuzz, just not my style.
Coming: A new bass after I sell some pedals.
