What's driving the shortscale revival?

Exactly, that's what I would think based on what I see (which isn't THAT much, admittedly).

Incidentally, I watched the Garage a Trois live video KEXP released today. Charlie Hunter plays a 7 string fanned fret guitar/bass tuned G-C-F-C-F-Bb-D. Scale length is 25" to 29". It's what works for him. Nobody says his bass playing doesn't sound good because it's a short scale.

My friend has the Tribute model. She just got the Mustang Player Series with the PJ config and she is preferring it over the G&L. They're the same general dimensions and weight. That finish is rad ah, though, you right.

If you think they're so small that only a small person or child can wield one, you very obviously have not held one or maybe just hold back on the derogatory remarks, 'cause it's complete garbage and unnecessary, imho.

ANYWAY, I got a thing for these Fender Monogrammed straps and swapped with another bass and now I am happy with the color matching...

You gotta understand, I'm not a sensitive guy, but I get so much flak for playing a short-scale that I don't have much of a sense of humor about it. I'm sure many others are the same. If a person's sense of manly-ness comes from being able to stretch their fingers an extra eighth an inch, well, Idk. I mean, if you can bench 400lbs., I'll give you that, but you can handle a little bigger bass--not that impressive, physically speaking.

It's about the sound one can get from a guitar long/short not a masculinity issue. At least it shouldn't be. If someone kids you about playing a short scale, ask them if they can hear a sound difference. Does the music suffer? If so then that should be the issue not the fact that the guitar is shorter in length.

Short scale has its place.

Hits were created using short scale basses. Don't think they worried about what others would think of them using a smaller guitar when they laid down their parts.

Playing a 30" scale Fender Vl. Though it was used to double a bass track, they played it on the Long And Winding Road track.

It's weird. Nobody has ever said anything to me about the bass I play other than it's cool. Everyone has an opinion on my guitars. I'll get crap here, but are we really basing opinions of ourselves on internet weirdos? LOL.

I'm a little freshly annoyed in that I literally got crap last night about my new short-scale. In "good nature", but not really. Sort of the, "No offense, but your mom is a prostitute." vein of good-natured. And it's always the same machismo type stuff, which is super silly. No biggie, but I understand when someone loses it a little.
