After many years of playing only 4 string basses, I picked up an entry level 5 string just to see what all the fuss was about.

It's a Rogue LX405. It'll take some getting used to, having that "extra" string below the "E", but it does add some flexibility. I like the bass, for what it is. It comes in at 8.5 pounds, so it's pretty light, and after tweaking the truss rod, the action is perfect. Came with the case, so the price was right for a used entry level instrument. I took it to band practice yesterday, and the sound is passible through my PF800/SVT. I'm looking forward to exploring this whole 5 string "thing".

Hey, got a question about the Alleva Coppolo. How's the weight on those? I've never played one but they look as if they would be heavy.

I'm not sure if he's a builder "you can spec weight with."
Mine's 9lbs 4 oz, I think.
Not heavy. Not light.

I've been playing five string exclusively since Y2K. Since then I've owned a ton of fivers including Modulus, Warwick, MTD, but I realized I'm most comfortable with the P-bass body shape. From L-R:

This is the brand new exception, acquired a few months ago: Martin Keith Elfin Plus. Yes, I fell off the wagon in a big way. Under the soap covers are Nordstrand pickups: reverse P-bass (neck) and Stingray (bridge). Alder body (same as all the others), pearl red finish.

You guys have some very nice and expensive 5's. Great axes. Well here are my gigging Bar basses. For higher end gigs I have a Brubaker KXB-5 Custom. Still I'll play these anywhere. The black one is getting upgraded with a set of Reed James J/MM set with a special twist under the hood. (NEO Bars) and a Bart Pre.

Only one I own at the moment is my Lakland 55-02. Comes with to every gig. It's an 08 Cherry Burst with a Maple neck.
