Well, so much for small, simple, and portable … but it sure is fun! That’s an A/B pedal off the board that toggles between clean w/ the plus pedal (polyphase on effects loop) chain and the POG/envelope/distortion/reverb chain —- both meeting up in the L/R of the looper…Pretty fun, ya’ll….

I have gone through a bunch of pedals for my non bass playing projects and I have landed on these two that I like for the simplicity for reverb/echo/ambient. Zoom MS70 and Mooer A7. Zoom is nice and can chain multiple effects but I find pairing them together works great. I do try to keep my set ups simple and minimalistic. Hopefully before the end of the year I'll complete the solo bass project I have in mind that will incorporate my more ambient stuff so would be good time to run the upright through the set-up.

I’ve been drooling over that Noble pedal, but not letting myself spend any more money on more gear… I pulled this out of the barn storage this morning and am pretty pleased with the “tube warmth”… anyone use a sansamp classic first gen for upright?

I can’t help but tinker with stuff. Here’s my formal submission for “what’s on your pedal board” gig rig.

The sansamp breathed new life into my PJB cub, so I decided to roll with it. I had mounted a tripod base to the bottom of the amp, rendering the stock gig bag useless anyway, so I though “why not?” and decided to mount some of the pedals I like to access with my hands on top of it

(HPF pre, Tuner, EHX4500 looper). There was space for the SansAmp on the back.

Since the power supplies were all different specific voltages, I mounted a power strip to the bottom

and intentionally left one side empty to function as a base for when off-stand in transport.

Admittedly, I like the Ghostbusters home brew proton pack aesthetic. I still need to run a couple pedals on the ground - the PLUS pedal is a keeper, especially with the polyphase through it’s effects loop.

Other than that, the foot controller for the 4500 is clutch. I kept trying to figure out how to turn the whole ding dang thing into a ‘bar safe’ stand for the bass itself and ended up just securing a string swing brand upright wall stand on to the front of the amp, right between the speakers.

Sure, it makes the whole rig clunkier, but I want to be able to bring my nicer bass out without anxiety. I also got my flute in the rig! Because my “utility bib” freed up the bow quiver, I just use it as a flute holder now.

Flute is running through a K&K silver bullet mic and into the other input of the amp, for now. I’ll probably need to add some reverb to that chain (“if you give a mouse a cookie…”), but that’s for a different forum…


The plus pedal and the looper in combination really offer an endless world of possibilities. I’ve got some serious exploring to do with those two before I am ready to incorporate anything else (for now!)

All of those dials would make me insane haha! I like the String Swing though, I have one on my wall.

Yea, it’s absolutely ridiculous - but hey, so am I! We’ll see how it works out. I’ve got high hopes, but the CUB is really finicky clean - we’ll see how it hold up w/ the Sansamp in the context of the ensemble. If it doesn’t work out I just converted a broken GK112 combo into a standalone cab — I’m going to throw and AI head on and maybe try the same “mounted effects” concept. You really need to be able to easily access the loop station with your hands to make it work - it’s overwhelming at first especially until you realize how to work/route the L/R split, but it’s my favorite looper I’ve played with. Works like a 4- track recorder with 2 inputs. Infinite applications.

mine is 6v with the headphone jack connector. I had seriously lost the PSU for 5 years and have been kicking this pedal round storage until last week when it magically showed up just in time to miraculously save me from wanting to give up on and get rid of this cub. Nature/Reality talks to you in funny ways sometimes when you’re hyper obsessive about a thing, it would seem, lol.

I have one specific gig in which I use a pedalboard for my Eminence EUB.

Channel A for arco - Realist into Bassbone, HOF mini reverb in effects loop.

Channel B for pizz - Krivo magnetic pickup into Aguilar Octamizer (used when needed) into Bassbone.

Korg pitchblack in the tuner out, powered by an Eventide PowerMini

Not a very traditional DB tone but works for what I’m going for in that context. I love having a specific, optimized arco channel. For a jazz gig, bluegrass gig, or any other gig that calls for a “normal” DB tone, I just go directly into a well-designed DB specific amp with no pedals or preamp (maybe an Fdeck HPF-Pre.)
