My "holy Grail" isn't a bass as I am happy to score a nice playable instrument from any new rack in the store I find it. Mine is a very rare and extremely expensive guitar. Not pre-CBS Fender or Gibson but an Ibanez "Donnie" Joe Satriani model JS-5.

Wow...you see something new everyday. I never even knew explorer basses existed that early.

Maybe an original Vox Teardrop. I’m not sure the “Holy Grail of basses” has been found yet.

Ampeg AUB-1 Scroll Bass, whenever I'll find a non altered, well kept, in good shape, somewhat all original and affordable one, maybe... so a Grail by definition!
