Whats so good about Sadowsky!?

I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure why I love my Sadowsky so much. Over my relatively short experience as a bassist, I've owned a few jazz basses. I recently decided to go back to a jazz. The problem? I couldn't find a Fender (with the exception of vintage pre-CBSs) that I really liked. I have yet to figure out why. For some reason, they just didn't cut it in my book anymore. Maybe it's because my tastes have changed, or become more refined.

I wanted a "classic-styled" bass; but with a huge variety of tones. I've got just that with my Sadowsky. It nails the vintage jazz tone (IMO), and over a dozen others. Granted, it doesn't have the vintage vibe in terms of look (basically, it's not 40 years old). It's a mixture of the old and new. A hybrid, if you will.

Granted, and it's been mentioned many times prior to this, a Sadowsky is not for everyone. If you don't dig it, cool deal, don't get one. Heck, even Roger will tell you that. However, if you really dig 'em... you're screwed :D.

What's so good about Sadowsky? Here are some of the reasons I love my P5:

Amazing fit and finish
Amazing fretwork
Can't find a tighter neck pocket
Even response over the entire fretboard, no significant dead spots
Best symmetrical neck profile I've played - not too slim, not too fat
The Sadowsky sound - clear and clean
Lightweight (less than 9 pounds)
Great customer care should I ever need it

Good point. I said "scooped" in my post above, but that was unfair. The traditional passive Fender sound is thick mids, especially the P-basses. That Fender sound is still the traditional bass sound (to middle-aged folks like me, anyway) so it's easy to say that a Sadowsky is scooped. It is, but only in comparison. In truth the Sadowsky is flatter, while a passive Fender is mid-enhanced.

This reminds me of "What's so good about an (Apple) Mac?

I'd say it's the sum of a lot of little positive details that makes a Sadowsky: great J style sound, superbe playability, light weight, low noise ....(I do not care about looks). Wasn't the term "SUPER J" developped regarding Sadowsky basses? Because that's what it is!

I really think tha the next time someone asks why Sadowsky is so good, the response should be to do a search and wait until a thread about Sadowskys by Sadowsky players gets started. That would probably provide more information.

no they are not hand made, they are CNC'd by another company then assembled and bolted together in Rogers shop and set up to a very high standard, but definatly not 'hand made'

Man, did a Sadowsky owner step on your toes with cowboy heels or something? No matter what you say, you delight in saying negative things about Sadowskys. This is the opinion of someone who isn't particularly into Sads either.

sorry can you point out what i have said that you thnk is negative, i mean all companies use CNCs now, whats the problem with that , did you expect every bass to be made with a knife and a piece of sand paper? even leo fender used cutting machines, you need to go away and read up a bit mate before trolling.
