What's The Current Fender P/J Model?

Ummmmmm.

That's kinda scary though.

Haha yeah, but it plays like a dream, though. It's really nice for slapping, but it's really versatile overall.

It's around 7 pounds, so it's nice and light.
Nah, it's no more slippery than your standard nitro paint. Maybe a little bit so, but it's hardly noticeable.
At this time, it only comes in black as far as I know. I'm sure there may be a custom colored one out there, though.
It's an unusual departure for Fender, it seems.

Sorry it took so long to get back - this site is taking forever to load a new page every time.

This last time it took almost 5 minutes to get back after three time-outs.

Listening, mods?

Look at the time and it's LATE:30 too! I know Jimmy is asleep or out gigging or whatever it is he does at night. And the rest of the world's in either deep sleep or should be there. I'm on the Left Coast so I get the remnants of the sunshine for the longest in the ConUS.

Stolen pics from TB. Also these are not "current" in production but great nonetheless.

Mid 90's Mexican Made fender precision special , Nickname "cowpoke". These are active and have 22 fret necks IIRC.

Hotrod P bass, made in late 90's, full width p bass neck IIRC

Much like the jazz bass special in the OP but thiss is the "power" model its active and has a reversed P pickup also note the body contours in the horn area.

I've got some serious GAS for a Tony Franklin. Reading this thread didn't help my GAS pains at all.

Big Daddy, I know what you mean. I tried a friend's TF fretless and got major gas for that thing - a real great-sounding player. I looked everywhere - here, eBay, Craigslist nationwide - and I couldn't find any for sale. I did find one online through the Guitar Center used site, but I decided to pass on it. It's still there, and probably fine, but I don't know. At any rate, I finally gave up and ... decided to order a new one, in the tortoise shell color. Waiting now.

There. Now your gas pain :help: should be eased. Or is it?

the aerodyne basses are alright but my big complaint is they use basswood bodies. Infact, Fender doesn't even list the body wood on their website anymore. The "delux" part about the bass is mostly cosmetics. I thought the P-Bass Lyte's weren't too bad when it comes to a P/J configuration.

I have the MIM Deluxe Active Precision Bass Special in black with a rosewood fretboard. It is a joy to play, listen to, and look at. Just so you know, the pickguard isn't actual aluminum, it's a slab of gold-coloured vinyl, but it looks great and it's far from wimpy.
