Double Bass what's the great bassists equipment?

Do you know if there is any comparison available, with details about strings, pick-up's and amps used by different bassists? Many of them accept to advice the use this or that, but finally they are in fact playing sometimes with other ones.

I've seen Ron Carter, Ray Brown, Christian Mc Bride, Ray Drummond, George Mraz, and Larry Grenader to name a few. What I have learned from the experience is that they are master players with really great instruments. When they are on tour they use what ever house amplifier is avaliable. tastes in strings vary from Charlie Hayden who uses Eudoxa Olives, to Spirocore's for others. They use a variety of pickups as well.
Frankly, as long as it's a good pickup then the brand really dosen't matter as much as you would think. Their hands and their instruments produce the sound, for the most part.
