The worst combo I ever owned was something called an EG30B; supposedly 50 watts with a 15" speaker and a line out. I used the line-out constantly even for the smallest rehearsals and it still was the most anemic, horrible sounding bass amp ever. But the thing was, it was part of a $150.00package deal when I bought it with a beautiful, worn, dirty, and missing strings 1978 Fender Precision.

My 1st amp was Dads homemade (valve) 'mono'
but as I couldn't take it anywhere, he bought me a (Aus made) Vase Bassman 120( 4x6L6 pwr tubes) & a cab that came with it- 12" & 15" in same cab. Both off a local guy that played live. I think it cost $120 - C.1976.My Dad said that it was best to get something that will last, & he was right. It lasted me 12 yrs when in '88 it was stolen along with my '78 Precision

Id go into a bunch of fancy-schmancy adjectives to describe it, but no point in doing that really. And the craftsmanship really blows.... The metal cab corners were installed crooked, the white piping around the speaker grill was sloppily stapled, so it bulges out in spots, the little aluminum caps on the control knobs keep falling off---lost 2 of them so I just pulled the rest of 'em off to prevent further grief.
So youre probably thinking, then why did you buy it??

A friend of mine bought it for his son who wanted to learn bass guitar, and ultimately lost interest. So he gave it to me.

worst? Ampeg BA500 - hands down
super heavy, terrible tone, just an overpriced white elephant. if i knew better when i first started, and didnt have a salesperson who didnt really care about me and my money, i would have NEVER messed with one.

I have to agree.
I had a B200 that was nice, but I tried a B20 and I thought it was far inferior to the Peavey Max and Fender Rumble.

Some P.O.S. 20w Silvertone. 6" speaker that sounded like a fart in a trashcan. Came with an SX P bass I once bought. :scowl:
even though this is two years old... i have that!!!! honestly, i've had one for 5 years now and still use it to this day. it was my first amp, and i'll definatly say it will never be nothing more than a decent begginer amp. honestly, i feel like i've heard stories of other low end combo amps being ALOT worse though. had only two issues with mine, the cheapish handle broke after only a few years and the gain knob crackles like anything.
Kustom KBA 65. One of those amps I bought before I knew *anything*. Never got a sound I could stand out of it. I really wanted to like it, because it was mine. But it sounded like a cardboard box.
Interestingly, I also bought a Behringer 90-watt combo at the same time. Wasn't loud enough for my needs but I liked the sound and I played it dimed 3 hours a week for a year no problem. Traded it in eventually for something - don't remember what.

That said however, I want another one. the thing could take abuse and keep going. And for what and how i play, it works pretty well, and is cheap.

LOL i have that combo too and i hate it . i tried to sell it here in Venezuela , and I'm still waiting for someone who wants to buy it xD , i bought an ampeg ba 115 and it just kicked the SWR ass . now i have an Svt 3 pro with a svt 410hlf and I'm not thinking about getting another amp .
Seems like a first-world complaint, but I thought the TecAmp 112 combo was lousy. Think of every stereotype of a solid state amp paired with a neo speaker, and that was that.
Rule of thumb: never jump on the hype bandwagon. Unless it's a Mesa Walkabout Scout. That is truly an infallible combo.

Peavey Microbass. An older one with 15 watts at 4 ohms into a guitar speaker with a big opening at the bottom of the baffle (a super-high tuned "port," I suppose). I got it for next to nothing and promptly built a plywood cabinet for the head and a 10-inch Eminence bass speaker I had on hand and the little thing isn't too bad for an occasional church rehearsal. It actually sounds good for keys and guitar and gets surprisingly loud.
Trace Elliot 1x15 150w (the one with the 7 bands eq): plain horrible!!! Never got a usable sound coming out of it... got rid of it as soon as possible...
Been there, buddy! My first "combo" was a 15 watt karaoke amp with a 6" speaker. It held its own better than that damn axl combo!

Used to play at church with a beat to hell, generic, open back Univox with a 12" speaker. The thing put out like 60W. There was not way of getting any real bass out of it. Especially since I like a big and clean bass sound. I didn't really own it. But after realizing that I had to play with a more midrange/trebely tone, I owned it.
