Whats with guitarists?

close your eyes and listen.......if it sounds good it is......i saw that in a sig somewhere

But thats the thing. Guitarist that put emotion in their playing it sounds good. Guitarist that don't, well the playing feels almost static......IMO

just look at guys like Malmsteen, he can rip through scales like a maniac but there is no feeling in his playing. Same with Mike Batio who played for a band called Nitro

then you hear guys like SRV, David Gilmore, Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth, santana
they all play with such emotion

You might want to check out Terry Kath on the first four Chicago albums. IMO, fast, melodic and with feeling.

michael bolton chews up a lot of scenery but i'm not sure if any of it adds up to "emotion"......at least not real anyhow.......some guys make faces and jump around and some don't,but the real test is how it sounds
