what's with the 2x10 craze on TB?

2X15's, in an insulated birch-ply cab driven by tubes, makes my panties moisten everytime!!!
on days when i'm not too energetic, my 2X10's more than fit the bill unless...

I too am a big or at least bigger cab fan. I understand why people may do this, buy two 2x10 cabs and essentially make a 4x10. I get the portability, possible sound differences, and the whole one for small coffee shop and then both for a bit larger gig, but I would just get a 4x10 cab at that point. Of course it also comes down to scoring a possible great deal too. I guess I just love my 6x10
I totally dig 2-2x10 and 2-112 setups. I currently use the 2x112's with a BX500 and it's like stupid loud. But my SVT and two 4x10's crush cars without even trying....

While the portability and the ease of movement may be part of it, I've always understood that it was a big deal because of how you can line them up vertically instead of side by side.
This config gives you a lot more volume since you don't get as much phasing, plus it brings at least a couple of speakers up to ear level.

Frankly, I like the 212 craze better myself
I think 212's are awesome, they aren't as small as a 210, but they pack more of a punch and are extremely light. I have a neo 212 and it's only like 30-35 pounds. And it dishes out the same as a 410 which can weight up to twice that.
ive been using 2 4x10s for awhile but been considering using a 4x10 and a 2x12.. havent made the move yet. But i def use only one cab for coffee shop type shows.. I dont know though, theres something awesome about being crammed in someones livingroom(house show, obviously) with a full stack and and everyone crammed together rockin out. Its pretty awesome. More awesome than fat old guys with their teeny tiny rigs on eye level stages playing poopy Billy Squier covers.

That's the beauty of freedom! My choice is the vertical stack of a pair of Acme B2 cabinets.
Your rig stacked that way looks very akward and unappealing to me. Many stages I've played on would shake that to the ground. Also OP, I use only a single 210 only for really small venues, like a little bar.
It's more sturdy than you'd think. If other things on stage are not falling over, this isn't falling over.

Me, I will use my 2x10 combo for practice and acoustic jams. For most bands, two vertical 2x10 cabs is just fine. And as others have pointed out, it's nicer to carry a 30lb 210 cab than a big honkin' 4x10. Even if I make two trips.

I use a 2x10, or a 4x10 or a 6x10...using only two cabs!

That driver spacing looks a bit wide. I wonder if they just use the same box as with their 2x12? In any case, it's not your fault, and I'm sure it performs better than a conventional 2x2 arrangement with 4x10s. Looks pretty sturdy to me!
I like the portability of having 2 separate 2x10 cabs. One usually suffices, but when the 2 are working on a gig, it's more than enough but the tone range picks up considerably.
Like a few others here, I am not playing in such loud bands these days. It's nice to hear one's tone without the ringing ears afterwards.
