Why are almost all fretless necks lined these days?? I want to get a Jazz fretless but they all are lined!! AM I the only one that thinks lines on a fretless is a waste of a neck??

They look kinda lame IMO. But that's just an opinion. And there are more important things. It is however a sad thing that so many commercial necks are lined. It'd be nice to have variety, wouldn't it?

Oh boy, I smell a lined versus unlined debate/flame fest coming.
I'm bothered by the fact that almost all mass produced Jazz basses are lined as well, but that's because my personal preference is for unlined, not because lines are a waste of a neck or because they are somehow inferior to unlined.
when i got my stingray fretless i wanted lines but i could not get one,had to make do.its very handy when your starting out ..(dont even know if mm do a lined fretless)
therfore: jeroen paul-thesseling, john myung, steven bailey, steffan fimmers (all 6 string users) must really suck cuz they have 2 more strings than Jaco.
but jaco was the lord so its normal (im serious)You could dye the board... Or, an easier method, just not look at the board while you are playing.
