whats with these videos

I was cruising you tube, looking at gear reviews and what not. Came across some dudes who have so much gear, crazy expensive stuff. They plug in..and oh my lord the crap they play is some of the worst stuff I have ever heard..Id rather listen to dudes in guitar center.

Why buy all this expensive gear if you cant even play. I just don't get it.

Hey I know, let's figure out who the best bass player in the world is and only let them post vids on youtube.

Same with gear, require an audition to determine how much you can spend on your gear. If you suck you can only have a Rumble 15 and a $10 plastic bass.

Imagine how much frustration we'd save all the really good players if we did this.

Gotta take the good with the bad if you're old enough to remember the days before the internet. I remember reading about gear over the years and wondering how it might sound. I'd have to head to the guitar shop and hope they had it. If not, I had to order it if I wanted to hear it.

I think it's horrible when you're checking out videos from NAMM and the bass disintegrates. You'd think the manufacturers would do some quality control on how their products are represented.

Spend less money on gear, more on studying with people/lessons and concerts. Thats what always come to mind.

It's a poor environment to do any recording. Too big of a room and entirely too much going on at any given time.
