What's wrong with me - can't stop shopping :-)

I got it too. I shop, and search, all the time. True to form, I bought an amp this morning, and just finished scanning the classifieds when I checked recent posts and ended up here! Maybe it's true. When you're done looking, you're done? I heard that somewhere, and it's stuck with me.

I will admit I am better than I used to be. Time was I'd by anything that looked good. I flipped a lot of gear and had fun in the process. But, shipping costs of basses is terrible so the cost of buying & selling is too rich for my blood these days. I've become more picky with what I purchase knowing that a poor decision there will cost me $100 to undo - and that is with a used instrument at the right price. It is worse with new stuff.

I very happy with my current stable of basses. I'm also very happy with my wife. In both cases, it doesn't mean I can't look. ;)

So true. Although, after deciding that I will play Roscoe's from now on, and ordering a new fruitless build, I haven't been looking in the Classifieds very much lately. I, too, am happy with my wife but still look - as does she.

I've got a few too many basses myself, although nowhere near what some people have. What helped me get things in check is asking a few questions before I buy a bass - What am I going to use it for? What does this do that none of my other basses does? What bass am I going to stop playing because I own this one? 99% of the time now I just pass on whatever I'm looking at. It doesn't always work, but I've been GASsing for a Dan Armstrong and Gibson Triumph and every time I think about it I realize that they wouldn't replace my go-to bass and would most likely rarely see any playing time.
