What's wrong with my Big Muff?

Here's my pedalboard

Black Russian Big Muff --> Boss OC-2 --> Digitech Bass Synth Wah --> Crybaby Wah --> EHX Memory Boy --> Behringer Vintage Phaser

all powered by 1spot, except my wah, which has its own power supply

I want my OC-2 before my Big Muff, but when I put it first in the chain, my Big Muff LED lights up, but the signal is killed and I get nothing from my amp

Why is this happening?

OC-2 light turns on if I engage it
Muff's doesn't

And there is a loud buzzing sound coming from my amp, and the volume of the buzz is affected by the volume on my Muff. It is there when the Muff is engaged or disengaged, but is louder if the Muff is engaged.

No bass signal goes through.

edit: and none of my pedals/cables are the problem... I've isolated the Muff and OC-2 from the other pedals and used multiple different cables. When the OC-2 comes after the Muff, everything works properly. The problem is I really want my OC-2 to be first

This is a reeeeeeally dumb question, but do you have the inputs and outputs plugged in correctly? The Russians are switched.

Does the OC-2 work when it's the only pedal powered and plugged in bass -> oc-2 -> amp?
Does the BMP work when it's the only pedal powered and plugged in bass -> bmp -> amp?

Yeah, it's plugged in properly and they both work when plugged in individually.

Don't have any spare batteries around to test it, but for years my setup was bass --> bmp --> amp and the bmp had a battery in it). BMP was one of the first pedals I got, and for a while it was the only one I used.

Report back once you try again with a battery. Power is the culprit here.

I had a similar problem with my black russian muff. Running all my pedals on one power supply. Bizarre things like buzzing, lights on/off etc. I realised I made a silly error of getting the 9V Power Supply polarity the wrong way for the muff when using a 9V Battery/Jack adaptor), I switched the polarity and BINGO, it was fine! Try a battery and then see what happens.

Have you considered pondering your conundrum over a stirring game of Ping Pong?

May require a 2 Player
