Well, I tried going straight in with my Realist equipped upright again and got the same results as before: almost no sound even with both the gain and volume turned way up. Placing a higher impedance device like my fdeck HPF-Pre or even a Zoom MS-60B, which has a 1M input impedance, solves the problem. It sure sounds exactly like a buffer issue to me.
I did buy the amp used. I think it's a 2015 build. I don't know if Warwick has made any changes since then. I'll see if I can get any further info from them.
