What's wrong with the Warwick LWA 500?

Well, I tried going straight in with my Realist equipped upright again and got the same results as before: almost no sound even with both the gain and volume turned way up. Placing a higher impedance device like my fdeck HPF-Pre or even a Zoom MS-60B, which has a 1M input impedance, solves the problem. It sure sounds exactly like a buffer issue to me.

I did buy the amp used. I think it's a 2015 build. I don't know if Warwick has made any changes since then. I'll see if I can get any further info from them.

Looking back at your thread and title on a bigger screen, I misread it as Hartke (LH/LHA)and not Warwick (LWA), so in hindsight my comments do not apply.

Regarding the TRS fx loop, any idea if the 'fx receive' is tip or ring? I'm thinking that if it's the tip, than a normal 1/4" cable should work for by-passing the preamp.

I bought mine used, so it didn't come with the Y cable. Turns out the tip is the send and ring is return. I'm still loving this little thing. I think it is super under-rated here on TB. I'm actually thinking about picking up a second one.

I have an LWA 500 and I do have to say in the EQ's favor that only the low-mid control is more in a mid point. However, I'm very satisfied with the other points, especially the hi-mid: seems to bring about any tweeter-less box into life in just the right way and still sound natural (if you don't push it too hard, of course). The amp is as quiet as an amp gets, I believe. It is also more coherent sounding than my EBS Reidmar, which is an increadible sounding beast! The EBS, which I consider a smooth, neutral amp, sounds harsher and a bit more forward. In comparison, the LWA has all frequencies coming out of the box as one unit. Just a pleasure to play my cabs with it- I use a Bass Systeme 6x8" and FMC 1x8", both are top notch, German made cabs. Real cream.
However, 470w EBS or 400w Mark Bass are TONS louder than 500w Warwick LWA, for your interest...But the LWA is just enough to survive a reasonably loud funk rehearsal with drums, percussion, guitar and keys in a medium sized room. For example, an Elf can not.

The sunk controls allow me to throw the amp in my bag without hesitating and the weight is so little I forget it's even there. I love it!

When the fan kicks in it's quite loud when playing at home, and it happens sometimes also when not playing the amp for some hours. However, you could turn the amp off and on again, if you're sure it's not really hot...
