I use S.I.T. Conklin PowerSteel stainless 7 strings on all three of my sixers.
I like the .025 C string.
(I don't use the F#)

I've deviated many times for experimentation. But I always come back to Elixir. I'm in a couple different cover bands. Ranging from old school funk, to modern pop. Some jazz fusion stuff for fun occasionally. I'm cursed with body chemistry that seems to kill most rounds. I'd swap out other brands every few weeks, but I get months out of Elixirs. I like snappy, Hi-Fi tones a lot. I have multiple basses. Most are fully active EMG equipped. I tend to favor their nickels but I like the stainless as well. And the smooth texture makes slides a breeze.

I've been stuck on DR Hi-Beams 45-105 for years after going through multiple brands and types. The tension is similar to D'Addario rounds of the same gauge (based on the fact I didn't need to tweak my neck relief when switching between the two). I prefer tension a tiny bit on the high side for "piano tone" and clarity, but really love the flexibility (i.e. "bendability ) of the round cores. I stopped considering any other strings. Plus I can always find them in stock locally (a huge plus).

DR

Cause they are awesome and made right here in New Jersey.

I respect that you support your local business.

It's the same reason I play GHS.

(Read this in Roy Kent's voice- add F bombs where you see fit)"Because they're good lads, they make a good product, and I could have a beer with them after work at the local pub."

I'll take that over, "Well, the mids are little more fronted and the tension is an RCH less (or more) than XYZ at this scale length" every day of the week.

It's awesome when you can connect with the people that make the product that you like.
