What's your core?

Much as I love a Harley, I think most folks these days who get one just don’t realize what they are letting themselves in for.
A Goldwing is smooth enough you can balance a nickel on it’s edge on the fuel pump when It’s idling and if you keep clean oil in them and follow the recommended maintenance intervals 300K miles are not uncommon. When such a scooter is available, why would any random guy over 50 with no 2 wheeled experience take on a Harley other than they want to be Marlin Brando or Peter Fonda.

You don't ride a Harley because it's smooth.....or fast.

It's a lifestyle.

Actually, it's a motorcycle. Motorcycling may be considered a lifestyle if you self identify as a biker and go so far as not owning a cage as proof of your hardcore approach to living the two wheeled dream, but outside that, Harley ownership is only a lifestyle if you want to buy into the Hollywood mythos that Harley ownership by default makes you a one percenter, then pretending to be a one percenter without really being one. Being a true one percenter is most definitely a lifestyle choice but simply owning a Harley does not make you a one percenter, it only makes you a motorcycle owner. You can copy the one percenter look, but you can't be a true one percenter without living a life that defines you as one who is by choice a member of the one percent of the motorcycling public the AMA once claimed made the other ninety nine percent of motorcycle owners look bad in the eyes of the non motorcycling public, and you don't need a Harley to be that person. The one percenter lifestyle is not exclusive to Harley ownership. :D
