Whats your current music kick?

I've been getting into Symphonic for a while now. Lots of female fronted metal bands with symphonies, grunting growls and tons of layering in their songs. Just can't seem to get off of it. It started with Lacuna Coil, then progressed into more Mezzo Sopranic (sp?) female fronted bands like Nightwish, Sirenia, and REALLY deep into Epica.
Simone Simmons = TEH HAWTNESS!

The latest kick has been The Agonist, a female fronted techincal-ish band.

I grew up on classic rock. It is what my parents listened to on the radio in the car and what not so naturally its what i listened to. I then started liking other kinds of rock too, alternative, modern, etc.

Out of NOWHERE, I have suddenly got this craving for listening to all kinds of hip hop/R&B. Not rap with completely synthesized music behind the rapper, but stuff like the Roots. I started watching Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and just really dug what the Roots were playing. I checked out some of their albums, and while i'm not really a big fan of rap music, the music they were playing with the rappers was really good stuff. And they just recently came out with a R&B album with John Legend. Gooooooood stuff.

I'm kinda with you on that one. Never been a huge pop rap fan but real , for lack of a better term, alternative rap has been intriguing me a bit for last few years. I hate superficial party music no matter what genre and rap has fallen prey to this as disease as well. I like rap that actually says something and has real musicians playing the grooves and beats.
