My '68 Tele Bass.
Gigged it Sat night.
Found it in SF during a lunch break at Black Market Music (probably '97), came back and traded a '67 Gretsch Rally for her.
Thought my dream bass was the Status Graphite Stealth that I had for years. Was a tremendous instrument.

I've owned my dream bass for 11-1/2 yrs now. A 5-string Alembic, coco bolo top and back with Series II electronics and side LEDs.

As I said earlier, I've had mine for 12 years now......but I would NOT turn my nose up on a refresh.
I'm still a complete amateur on the instrument, so I fear any of the exotic/esoteric/expensive boutique-style basses would be a complete waste on me. So it's apparently a good thing that I've got simple tastes. LOL My trio of dream basses, in no particular order, are a Ric 4003 (in Mapleglo, please), an original Music Man Stingray (in sunburst with the black pickguard, because every time I picture one in my head that's exactly what it looks like for some reason), and finally a
G&L L-2000, back when the coil tap switch was an option. Don't really care about the color on that last one, but I've always loved their Blueburst finish with the maple neck/fretboard. So I'll go with that. I comfort myself with the thought that even if my playing never improves, I still have a reasonable chance of owning all of these without having to win the lottery. Getting my girlfriend to understand the importance of owning these, however, is another story...

So I'm dreaming of an SX 6 string passive P/J bass with one piece ash body and graphite neck in burst with tort guard for $99 each.
And of course the idea would be to buy three just like my SX Jazz 6ers: one with flats (natch!), one with rounds, and one in a blank plank fretless.

A Peavey T-20FL (fretless) would fulfill my current dream. Rare enough that I can't seem to find one!
Probably a '66 olympic white Jazz with a tort guard, bound and blocked rosewood neck and a matching headstock. Relatively regular, and maybe I'm not using my imagination much, but that colour/design combo is just astounding.
The '62 was a magic year, bro. The basses from that era were mad superb. With basses like that, I don't care about the price.
I think you confuse 'Dream Bass' with 'Bass I'm currently GASsing for'. Get your stuff straight. A guy can dream.
Standard Fender Precision V. Actually I can afford it, but cant justify the cost, and I have a few basses that do well enough.
