What's your dream bass?

For me the -realistic- dream bass is the Jazz I have just finished building...

- Warmoth mahogany body with lacewood top
- Warmoth pau ferro neck, graphite rods, macassar ebony fretboard, SS jumbo frets and corian nut
- Warmoth control plate and pick guard
- Hipshot A-style crome brass bridge and crome ultralight tuners
- EMG JVX pick ups and pots

Ah! That would be a custom build Jazz Bass.
-5 string
-35" scale
-Alder body
-Flamed maple neck
-Brazilian Rosewood fretboard (yes, I know it's now illegal to use)
-Nordstrand NJ5 or Lindy Fralin pickups
-Passive electronics
-Chrome Hipshot A-style bridge
-Hipshot HB2 Lollipop tuners
-Olympic white finish/tort pickguard/dot inlay/white fretboard binding

And an endorsement with DR for taperwound strings.

5 string musicman sterling in sliverburst finish and ebony board. I would settle for a stingray in silverburst but I really don't like the pickguard style on the stingray 5s. That hasn't stopped me from owning one though. I don't understand why they had to route the bass that way on the stingray but didn't on the sterling or even the vintage ray. The normal oval pickguard works fine on those two 5 strings.

I actually have my eye out for a project music man to build my own. I would have to find someone to paint it as a burst would be WAY above my level. But definitely have my eyes open for something.

Matt Pulcinella 5 string either the Level design or a P body shape. 21 frets. Black, maple, chrome.

P pickup, MM pickup, series / parallel switch for both pickups, sadowsky preamp w/ VTC.

I think that will be the next bass I buy from him.

One of the twenty one fret Rics they made in 69/70 . Fireglow . Before the skunk stripe , they had horseshoes , full inlays , and checkerboard binding . Beautiful !

For the time being though I do have a wonderful example of one of the later 4001 basses .

.......
What's your dream bass even if you don't play alt or metal?

HUH ?!?!!?

Well, as someone [apparently] only marginally entitled to
bass dreaming ...

My dream bass might be a Moll Bass. But within my budget
my Takamine B-10 serves verrrry well, thankee. Anywho,
brand and or model names aside, my dream bass specs:

# Fat, tight radius FL neck.

# Big archtop body ... TRUE archtop, meaning a floating
bridge with trapeze tail, violin-build construction.

# Acoustic PU system. No mag PUs.

# Ebony FB .... nothing else comes close.

# Great strap hang balance .... not easy with a violin
build design, but I WANT it !

Clearly, the above is no metalhead ax, not in nobody's
weirdest nightmares. If deployed in a metal/alt/etc
band, it would produce nothing but howling feedback.
