I don't know the origin.

That's a version of the "Golden Rule." The classic formulation is from Jesus Christ in Matthew 7, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." That's what's called the "positive" version of the Rule, where actually doing good is mandated. It's rooted in Hebrew scriptures where the closely connected "Love your neighbor as yourself" occurs.

There are older versions of the more common "negative" version of the Rule, sometimes called the "Silver Rule," which run to the effect of "Do NOT do to others what you would NOT want them to do to you." The difference is that the Silver Rule mandates refraining from negative actions but doesn't necessarily call a person to perform positive ones, so it's less radical. You find versions of that in Confucian, Hindu, Zoroastrian, and Greek philosophical writings before the Christian era.
