I'm curious about everything from hardware to string spacing, neck finish to active/passive pickup configuration.

I've never owned or played one for any period of time, so they're a bit of a mystery to me.

:o

I have an Fbass 5 string that I'm in a deeply committed relationship with. You can look them up and get all the info you need. The standout feature of it is the tone, which is a result of having a bass made by a company that also makes the preamp and the pickups, only the hardware is sourced.

My Sadowsky 24F5 is definitely my "go to" bass (and is a 5-string).

What makes this fiver great:

- 19mm string spacing at bridge, just like a standard 4 banger
- dual soapbars give it a HUGE tone
- weighs only 7.35 lbs !
- Sadowsky pre-amp sounds amazing

my '09 schecter stiletto elite, back when they still made'em in south korea. it just has this certain feel to it that i love. i played a '10 one the other day and it was extremely heavy and had this weird chorus-y tone to the B and E string. my is lighter and sounds quite good with the stock electronics.

Like everyone else, I think the one I own is the best.

Early Ristola. Nothing exotic, Barts & Aguilar preamp. Swamp Ash body, mostly maple neck with stringers and accents of some darker wood I forget. Never measured neck or string spacing, it feels more comfortable than some 4 strings (I'm looking at YOU, P-Bass). Love the neck joint. Not a blocky Fender style; smooth and rounded, low profile like a Killer B. Less of a heel than some neck throughs (yes Rickenbacker, I mean you.)
