Whats your favorite music documentary?

Dig! It's about Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols. I didn't know anything about either band before I saw it, but it paints a really interesting picture of how two different bands from the same scene can follow very different paths.

Excellent movie! That guy was insane!

I loved Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. Didn't they do another one after it too? I dunno. I haven't seen it. I saw one not long back on the BBC and it was all about the synth pop stuff... Started out with like Kraftwerk and how they influenced the development of synth pop. Was interesting as much as I can't stand synth pop. =D

Woodstock: The Movie. I always wished I could have been there. I was 15, and there's no way my folks would have let me go. So this is the closest I can get to being there.

I know! It's so crazy! I was not even close to being born, my parents were 17. Being a huge Hendrix fan (though not one of the poser teenage fan who only likes all the cliche songs, and not owning one of his albums)

Along with the who. Just watching John (my mega idol) in the movie gives me goose bumps! Especially when he sings the backing vocals to "summertime blues"

+1 for Scratch (I almost mentioned that one before). I also almost mentioned Wild Style. It's not a documentary, per se (it's a terrible film in many ways), but it's a great document of the 1982 hip-hop scene in the Bronx.

Of actual music documentarys "How Music Works" was a very good series on the BBC. may be on youtube. It's well done and also understandable for non musicians (so you can watch it with people that are inferior to people like us^^)

It's on youtube, i've watched it several times as well. Well worth the time.

i think anyone with harsh feelings towards djs as musicians should really watch this..but most wont open themselves up that much. DJ Shadows portion of it is really amazing and humbling
