standing in the shadows is the king of documentaries! but i also liked it might get loud and the sigur ros doc. if anyone hasnt seen this yet, check it out: Link Removed 
the one on sun ra that can be found on youtube (not his "space is the place" video, but the actual documentary on him) is facinating. he was such a unique creature..
Dude! When you've been around musicians as long as I have, you will KNOW that Blues Brothers IS a documentary! [OK, at least based on a true story(ies)]
Hell Froze Over (The Eagles) and my SRV on the PBS DVD that came with the Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble box set.

I gotta say, I didn't really like the way that Standing in the Shadows was put together... Seemed a little disjointed. Although the story is beautifully sad.
The Story of Anvil almost made me cry. That's a great one too.
The Last Waltz is epic. Classic Albums - Music From Big Pink is a must see if you like The Band.
Some Kind Of Monster - I feel like a lot of people lost a lot of respect for them after this movie, but I gained a significant amount of it for them. They really put themselves out there for all to see and once I watched it I finally understood what St. Anger was all about. Loved it, even though I'm not a huge Metallica fan.
Classic Albums - Dark Side of the Moon is great, but it'd be hard to make a bad movie about such a great album.

Y'know, I suspect that's what went thru my addled mind when I first posted... been playing sax 40 years (bass only about 7) so I do know whatcha mean. ("Chicken wire....?")

I was only 8 at the time but still remember seeing those doves on the guitar headstock posted everywhere my parents took me. It was a GLORIOUS time!! If I was granted one event in history to witness personally it would definitely be this one. Carlos stole the show, BTW!!

I'm not a big fan of black metal. You could say I tend to avoid it like the plague. But "Until the light takes us" is one hell of an eye-opening and shocking look into the black metal culture. These guys actually believe they're fighting a war dressed in corpsepaint and weilding guitars. Pretty messed up.

Scratch. It's a great movie about every aspect of hip-hop DJ'ing. I think it is really well done.
