whats your GAS right now?

I have every bass a man could ever ask for. Lakland Bob Glaub, Reggie Hamilton Custom shop 5 string, American Standard P bass, Warwick Thumb, G&L ASAT, 1500, SB 2, Warmoth 54 P bass with reverse headstock, Danolectro 63 long scale, and a 73 P bass. My mantra is: " I don't need another bass, I don't need another bass, I don't need another bass". But I am GAS'ing for an Aguilar 4x12 speaker cab. By the way, what does GAS'ing mean anyways.

Gear Acquisition Syndrome.

I'm the other way. I'm only down to a couple basses and don't really want any others.

I'll probably be cured before long...

My buddy just picked up a nice Fender Geddy Jazz at Best Buy for $799.
I was almost out of gas, then I went in and talked to a the kid working the counter. Turns out, they have a list of stuff that they are overstocked on in their various warehouses. I asked for a list and was given one.

Just thought I would help y'all with that gas.
;)

WERE TO BEGIN!!! :hmm:

I probably have had the worst case of GAS lately!
Ok....Here it goes...

First Bass: A squire Classic Vibe 60's Pbass
I know...why a squire? Because I'm planning to get one of those, install a Nordstrand NP4 pickup, complete vintage style wiring kit with CTS pots, orange drops and new imput jack, install straplocks and original barrel knobs (not the smaller domed ones), sand out the headstock waterslide, replace with fender 60's (let the flaming begin) just for looks, make pickguardian do a tortoise shell pickguard for it, put flats on it, ashtray and pickup cover...and last but not least, new tuners!

Second Bass: Blackpoole Relic'd "1962" Jazz Bass
This one I want probably the most because I found out about how such a nice job blackpoole does at relic'ing!
And I recently saw a Black 1962 Jazz Bass at the net with matching headstock! I want exactly THAT! buut...Ok here it goes....
Jazz Bass body painted black with nitro, medium reliced, mostly in arm contour and belly contour...and probably a little bit of belt wear! White pickguard Aged...thumbrest, bridge and pickup covers, authentic fender vintage bridge (aged), kluson type tuners (aged), little strap button on back of headstock, put a fender jazz bass 1962 waterslide...Rosewood fretboard, tinted neck and matching black headstock! Electronics will be concentric knobs with Seymour duncan Antiquity I pickups! Phew!

Third GASSING bass: DIY 5 string "NOS 1964" Warmoth Jazz Bass
This one I had the idea from a custom shop bass here at the forum! A 13 year old kid who bought the bass and said that it didn't even work or something like that....
Well, I LOVED that bass!! and had a little idea of making myself one using a Warmoth jazz bass 5 body in basswood (to kind of economize), paint it Shoreline Gold (the custom shop one, is aztec gold...is shoreline gold and aztec gold the same?) with reranch nitro, install a birdseye maple neck/board sliiightly tinted amber and do a shoreline gold matching headstock, of course it's would have a fender waterslide...and seal it all with nitro clearcoats in gloss!
For hardware...Fender MIA Jazz Bass V bridge, Hipshot Lite Tuners (clover style), dunlop straplocks (chrome), dual string trees and a Tusq nut...
Electronics...Audere Preamp and Nordstrand nj5s pickups!

Oh and I know I can get the pickup cover for a 5er Jazz bass (a la Marcus Miller)....But will the Jazz bass bridge cover fit a 5 string spacing???

And Thats IT!!!

As I say....BAD case of GAS :bawl:

Need to get my Dental Implant License and start working! :smug:
