What's your "White Whale" bass?

BESJP-3.jpg

except mine is going to be nicer ;)

There's a 32" thumb on eBay right now for $3,200

Yeah, it's been there ages. I almost bought it til I realised for the same price (once factoring in currency conversion and import tax) I could get a brand new custom shop in a 30" so I went down that path :p

I particularly like my "white whale" one though because of the purpleheart and the 5 string pickup config but on a 4 string. Maybe I will just order one like that next time, when I can afford all the fancy changes haha

I don't need any more basses at all...really, I like a Sith lord approach: one master and one apprentice. I need to lose a few. But dangnabbit I am totally obsessing over a Geddy Lee jazz. I have no reason to. I can't afford it. I already have a great jazz (MTD). Still it just seems abnormal for me to not have a black one with white pg and boosted electronics. It's JUST NOT RIGHT!!

Now the totally absurd white whale bass for me is the Alembic Explorer John Entwistle Boris The Spider 8-string:

At the moment I would have to say a Fender Deluxe Dimension IV HH. The Tobacco Sunburst is just flawless. IIRC, they have a 1.5" nut; I would prefer a 1.625" but I haven't played a 1.5" in a long time. I just might like it.

Of course, the odds of Mrs. Bassist4dalord letting me spend $1,500 on a bass are about as likely as her letting me spend $40,000 on my dream Ford F-150. Which is 0.
