So I was absolutely sure I wanted an Ibanez SR506 for my birthday (as a present to myself :P) but now God has dangled a new toy... A Fender?!

Now I have never really liked Fenders before, but I tried out an Aerodyne. Now it wasn't really my cup of tea, but it had sleek looks, was practically stealth and was really pleasing to the eye. I didn't like it's playability though. Then the guy at the store suggested I try another Fender.

He gave me a Fender Active Deluxe Precision Special (had to write it down). It was Midnight Blue with a Gold pickguard and Rosewood fretboard. It played amazing, and has really caught my attention and is making me think now. To make it better, the model comes in Blizzard Pearl (which is awesome) and you can decide between Maple or Rosewood fretboard.

So both the Ibanez and Fender are the same price (£499), the Ibanez is a 6 string, and I don't have one of those. The Fender however... Is a Fender. Everyone has at least one, plus it's a PJ bass, which is what I've been after for a while.

Can anyone provide me with some reviews of each, pros and cons etc.

I think the Fender will be more versitle, and you will be able to really use it for anything.

The Ibanez are more based for rock, but I have heard they can do almost anything. I've never played Ibanez's a whole too lot, so I can't help you out a lot there.

Check out the new 2010 Schecter Custom P's. It is about the same price, and they look amazing!

i say go for the fender also,i think for sure ull use it for just about anything while a 6 string isnt too ideal for some situations,im sorry to hear u didnt like how the aerodyne played ,its the same neck as the precision deluxe at 1.5 at the nut,maybe it was set up wrong man u should give it another try i wish i still had mine.

Wow, they do look nice, but what's with the hench bridge pickup?! It looks like 2 jazz pickups glued together.

Get the Ibanez. That wasnt god, twas the devil, trying to tempt you away from the nicer more loved bass with its versatile onboard eq, soapbar pups insgtead of fender. Satan has tried to lure you away from the more godly instrument, the ibanez. Repent, repent the sin of thinking the lord would play a fender instead of ibanez. LMAO.

Go play both again and which ones sound and playability will be most enjoyed the longest. It'll prob be the ibanez. Kewler looking beast too imo.

I feel somewhat obliged to listen to you, you're a member of both the Ibanez and Fender clubs XD

I am gunna go and try both out once more, side by side (if I can) I already own an SR series (705) and it sounds fantastic, but a bit of a one-trick pony. Maybe with some tweaking I could get a few different sounds out of the 506.
