When guitar players try to string up a bass

oh, I see this stuff regularly. usually that's some good, but overpriced bass. sometimes the seller states something like 'the bass is in new condition, was never played' and tries to charge more than it costed new.

currently this is in my local classifieds:

Same here, I assume a guitarist attempted to string up this Korean Peavey I bought for $20. Pretty common error. Guitars scare me with those pointy tiny strings poking out. I'm pretty clumsy. You'd think they'd use the neat bass system on guitars to tuck away the ends for safety.

It looks like they might hold. I should buy it and find out. Hahaha the seller is asking about $550 but doesn't want to ship. The location said Washington State.

Eh, I wouldn’t assume a guitar player installed those strings. As a matter of fact, I know many guitar players who happen to be excellent at bass (actually better than many self-proclaimed bass players) and excellent at musical instrument repair and maintenance.

i Can't stop laughing since the first pick. I'm almost crying from laughing.

On the other side, when I got my first bass, i asked my guitarist friend how to change the strings.

Result: if i would have followed his counsels, my bass would have looked like the pics i saw in this post.

I will leave you on that, i got to get a Kleenex.:roflmao:

The strings, all of them, clearly are cut too short. However, except for the string being too short, they got the A-string exactly right . . . for a bass whose tuners have no center pilot holes, first wrap goes over the top of the string to keep it seated in the slot, the rest of the wraps go beneath the string to anchor the witness point.

And honestly that sucks because soundgear basses are way too underrated. Probably one of the most underrated basses because of all the low priced gear and amateurs who bang on them. It's amazing how well they hold up though. I look at Ibanez like I do Toyota. Not exotic by exotic standards but they are great for what they do.

That wasn't a referendum on their quality. It's often the type a kid starts out on. A lot of pro metal guys used them.

Only 3 strings onna 4 string bass?

They can't count - probably was a drummer.
