When would a 5-string be required?

That was the 1920's; the 2020's are not going to be called that unless something radical happens.

I don't understand the "I'm not getting it" bit.

They want a 5 string bass in the band. It's a reasonable request and it's theirs to make.

If you want the gig and are a serious player you'd turn up with your 5 string bass, cos that's what the guy wants. There are plenty of gigs for 4 string players, why is this one winding so many people up?

It's funny, sad, silly. . . all the posts from 4 string players not happy that there is a requirement for a 5 string player!
