Right now, I'm drinking copious amounts of scotch because my gig was cancelled at the last minute (the club's electrical system fried due to a storm - KFC style and very crispy, so I'm told). We're getting paid anyway (it's covered under their insurance apparently, which is cool), but I ain't happy about sitting at home on a Saturday night. All revved up and no place to go - I hate that!! I'm a stage junky, and I'm Jonesing for a fix.
Still in the home office... But this time practicing for gig with the Dave Johnson Band tonight at Winston's in Chesapeake, VA...
I just discovered the 3rd set(!) of the material I am supposed to know by next Saturday! I thought there were only 2.
Man, I love the pressure of having to learn a lot of tunes accurately in a short amount of time!
Still, glad I didn't find this the afternoon of our first rehearsal.

A cover band. Rock tunes. Contemporary but not obscure. So my faking skills are really good but I love getting into the details of each song.
Matchbox 20, Nugent, Stevie Wonder, Stones, etc. Nothing like Weather Report. I wouldn't last 4 seconds with that stuff.
Gimme charts, I can do alright. If it's scored, I'd be ready in 2 weeks.
