Where can I find the best conversations about class D amps?

I own a Bugera Veyron T and I want to hear from Class D owners who have owned a Veyron and have played through this list of class D's-

Mesa Subway D-800 or 800+
Magellan 800
GK 800 Fusion
Forte D
Aguilar Tone Hammer- 500 or 700

I've known that the Veyron is not that well supported, company wise. It's been labeled a throw away when broken. I've tried reaching out to Bugera and you have to jump though hoops.

I'm wondering what I'm missing compared or if I'm not missing out. I had a Forte, with the Drive not compression, but sold it in favor of the Veyron. I felt it was warmer maybe due to the tubes internally.

Please tell me what you like about yours compared if you have played through the Bugera.

Never played through a Veyron and only have experience with the Tone Hammer 500. It's a great amp with non-intuitive controls that throw a number of new users. If you take the time to learn how the drive and gain controls work and you like a more vintage tone, it could be a winner for you in either 500 or 700.

It is performing but there's an issue with the input/overload set up. Issue in the sense that thew signal is before all circuitry. Either you need to turn down the bass volume before it goes in or use the pad so it won't overload. I'm not a fan of that. The input should be controllable.

Out of that list, I've only played through a Veyron in a store. I could not get a sound out of it that I liked, even after trying it with a couple of different cabs.

They have a couple different versions (I think a T and an M) which sound totally different.

I'm not sure I understand the issue. The input pad sounds like it's doing what it's designed to... your bass is clipping the input, so you engage the input pad to lower the input level (and thus increase the usable range of gain). Why do you not want to use the input pad?

I love my Tone Hammer, it is the polar opposite of GK.

Sounds like you need to use the pad and adjust the gain but I've never used that head.

The pad button takes the place of a separate "active" and "passive" input.

Does the same thing.

There's a pad, a gain control, a preamp volume and master volume. I don't know that any other amp will give you something else.

I own a Mesa WD-800 and it's a great head. Tons of tone shaping features. Built in HPF, 3 band parametric midrange control, amp dampening, very well built, extremely well designed, and made from quality components. Also will not make you broke buying one.

Finally, it comes with a very well thought out, readable, as well as understandable owners manual. Awesome package.

Never played through the Bugera. I tried a TH500 but couldn't get a sound that I really liked... @WG Plum was probably right. Maybe I should have given it more time. However, the D800 is a fantastic head, and and I keep one handy. You'd really have to work hard to get it to sound ugly. My main #1 head is the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2. Its been out of production for several years now .... thats why I hoard them, even though I've never had one fail. I keep a 9.2 also, but the 6.2 is my constant companion.

Ive played through most of these, and I wonder (but am too lazy to do the research) if these are all using the same power module manufacturer. That would put all the tonal aspects squarely on the preamp sections.

Yep - they have provided you (OP) with an amp that has 2 input gain ranges. One appears to be appropriate for your instrument. You say you want the input to be controllable. It is - the pad button is that control.

Hello! I've never had the opportunity to try the Veyron, due to certain musical items being limited here in Tennessee. But I own the Forte' D as a backup. But main gig and church using head is my ebs reidmar 750, which I have two of. It has both compression and overdrive if I need it.

I had an AG700 for a bit that I liked more than the TH700 I had before it. Easier to dial in with its straight forward EQ. I'm wanting to get another one and run my Revolt tube pre into it for a little tube touch, although it sounded great straight in through some DB cabs I had at the time.
