Where do i go? new rig setup

Hey!
I´ve got an Eden Metro 210 bass combo. I am very happy with the Eden sound, and the way it sounds with my (Bartolini) Lull basses.
However, it´s been with me for about 5-6 years, a lot of gigs/rehearsals and no flightcase. So it´s starting to wear out optically..
Still sounds great. But I do have some GAS for a new and slightly larger setup.. I´m going for a head and 4X10" for starters, thinking ´bout adding a 1X12/2X12 along the line.

Since I live in Norway, it´s kind of limited access on the second-hand market, and buying new is expensive. E-bay is offering a lot more stuff a lot cheaper, so I´m considering buying from there.

I´m asking anyone of you for some advice on where to go from here:

It´s hard to describe what kind of tone I am looking for, but I should give it a go I guess.. I like mellow, yet presise tone. Strong bass, consistant mid and a sweet, snappy treble. But not too snappy.
I don´t feel too comfortable with f.ex a Ampeg rig. I think they are too "brutal"

1:
In regards of sound-likeness to my Eden, what brands carry a sound-type that is close to my Eden? I´ve found out that I like SWR rigs, since they kind of feel like Eden. The Aguilar rigs I´ve tried also give me a lot, but they are too expensive. :crying:
Trace Elliot never stops amazing me. They´re strong and clear, yet warm and mellow. Might be what I am seeking.

2: Gallien Kreuger
A-I can get f.ex a 700rb amp second hand pretty cheap off Ebay. They seem to have the options that I am seeking. How do they sound?..
Will they deliver the smooth mellow that I described? Or do they sound more Ampeg?
B-I can get the "Backline" series cabinets here in Norway, how are they? They seem almost too cheap...

3: Ashdown
I´ve tried Ashdown ABM rigs two times (i think both times with 4X10)
Since I was not using my own bass, I found it hard to decide whether it was any good. But the look is cool and features are nice..
What´s your point of view?
Is the MAG series worth checking out or should I stay at ABM range?

4: Trace Elliot
Found some nice second hand heads on Ebay. But they are up to ten years old. Should that be a worry?
Like i mentioned, I am always able to find good tone in a Trace.

5: Nice stores to order from internationally? I´ve been looking around, but can´t find what I´m looking for... Anyone know of webshops that will ship internationally? Primally in the UK since it´s closer, and hopefully shops that sell used items.

I also am open for suggestions in regards of what I should check out, where to do it etc..

Hope I did´nt bore you, this turned out to be a pretty big post.. :smug:
Hope some of you will be able to help me out in some way.

Thanks! :bassist: :bassist:

I can't remember, but if you pull the amp out of the metro, does it have a full case??

if you like the sound maybe you can pull the head (six top screws I think). I pulled the head out of the CXC110 and it had a full case. The Thunderfunk 420 and 550 are nice because they use similar EQ schemes as eden world tour amps. Not quite as full bottom as the Eden, but MORE flexible tone controls, especially with the "timbre" and "the switch"

I've got the TFB550b and Eden WT550b. If you want to stick with Eden the WT800 has a MASSIVE warm commanding tone, even more so that the 550.

as far as cabs go I'm not sure what to tell you. I've kinda always been a 112 + 112 kinda guy for portability reasons. 112's I like Aguilar GS112, Bergantino Ht112, Epifani UL112. all great. each has a different accent.

1. If U like SWR- go for it! Some don't like some do!

2. G.K. is pretty good gear-reliable, good sound. I haven't owned any GK stuff myself so I can't comment on the RANGE of sounds it can do-sorry.

3. I've found Ashdown to sound pretty good for Solid state gear( I like all tube stuff myself) Warm, round & solid-IMHO. Have heard some reliability issues tho. Do a search re-

4. Have heard nothing but good things re Trace. Must be some bad stoies out thjere, but I've not heard 'em. The V4, V6, V8 tube amps are meant to be GREAT!

5. I only know of Thomann ?? (spelling?????) www.thomann.de or something- I'm sure if U google it-you'll find it- this is the only Europe based E-store I know of-but they have a great range & good prices & DO ship internationally.

Cheers,
Rod.

thanks guys!
I had the amp out the other day, since my master potmetre is busted.
It´s not cased, when you take it out it´s open at the top.
I have been thinking about getting an additional 2X12 eden cab and rackmounting the amp.

If I was just to saw off the plywood at the top of the cabinet (where the amp compartment starts) and refit some cloth around it i`d have a dc210 cab. :)

But, has anyone tried out the backline series cabs from GK?
