Where do you gig?

Probably not the right forum but none of the other ones seemed quite right either.

Just signed up for my church's worship band and since it's my new gig it got me to thinking, where do people gig?

Play in a Church worship orchestra and a rock band. We mostly play benefit /outside gigs.

Mostly in bars, but also in the studio and at private parties. I also checked "noodle at home", but that was a mistake because I don't gig at home, I only rehearse there.

I used to play in a worship group at church but that was before my split with christianity (my the things you find out about people on TB )
Of course i noodle at home - sometime i even practice
i've gigged here in CT since 1985, most of the gigs here in CT are at smaller clubs/bars, private parties are a blast when you can get 'em
plus i'm really lucky in that my guitar player/bandleader is loaded so he built a studio in his home that would make most gas prone individuals have seizures - we get to record a lot (when we have time) - and take all the time we want getting the original signals and mixes right

I primarily play praise & worship at church, 3 times a week.

My original Christian rock band plays out 3 or 4 times a month, at various clubs and churches.

We also rehearse once a week, and go in the studio a couple of times a year.

I also jam with other friends from time to time, and occasionally take my bass to an open mic.

I used to play in an oldies band too. The pay was good, but it got to be too much of a drag. And the singer's ego was big enough for all 7 of us. We played out at clubs all over the place, 4 or 5 times a month.

Restaurants, parties, weddings, art events, street fairs, festivals, Saturday Farmer's Market, clubs, yadda yadda...

just about everything- i just played a concert at the Shrine Auditorium in LA ( where they have the Grammies, etc..) with 2 major recording artists- yet tomorrow, i do a bar/lounge gig for a fraction of the pay and the drunkards of downtown Vegas- i still enjoy every gig as much as i can - its all good, as long as i am playing!

My last two gigs were outdoor festivals - in really nice weather with huge crowds - great buzz!!

Of the options in the poll - I wouldn't call most of them a gig at all!! Noodling at home is not a gig!!

Whereas most of the situations people I know play - like a lot of the things 'Passinwind' mentioned - are not covered?

I play bars, parties at people's homes, charity events, and I noodle around at home.

All of the above. Except for church, don't get there too much. "Other" would include parks, parking lots, festivals, corporate venues, casinos, and Nicky's back yard.

Playing on a pro tour. Right now we are a supporting band for a well known band playing 6000-12,000 seat places (Jones Beach, Greek Theater, Fleet Boston Pavillion, etc.). Back home in Austin I love playing my club gigs (rock and jazz) but the studio is my favorite place to work.
