where do you pick/pluck/slap?

Fingerstyle
I've been playin fingerstyle since I first started playing bass, so I usually play near the pickups. I used to rest my thumb on the pickups, but I'm trying to get away from that since pickups are different on most basses.
Picking
I don't do much picking, but it's usually between the pickup and the bridge. My hand usually starts to hurt after a while so I need to find another way to hold the pick.
Slap
I'm starting to slap in different places on the bass so I can feel different tones and things of that nature. So I basically slap everywhere.
So I basically said it depends on what tone I want. I'm starting to experiment different places to finger and slap on the bass so I can see what different tones I like. That's my 2 cents.

Well I pluck by the bridge cause my strings are so low and loose(thats the way i like them) but not to low or loose. I slap right above the 21 fret of a 24 fret bass and 18 fret of a 21 fret bass or very close to the neck. I dont pick but if i did i owuld play with it over the neck. oh well....
I slap near the neck when I do slap which isn't too often anymore.
If I'm going for a more "bassy" sound I'll play near the neck. I usually play there for rock and jazz stuff.
If I'm playing funk or want a more treblely sound, then I'll play near the bridge.
The majority of the time I play near the neck though.

I pluck/thump against the 24th fret on the tobias. I pluck/thump between the p/u's on the fretless carvin.
For fingerstyle, I normally play on top of the bridge p'u. When it's time to get some gritty attack, I'm on top of the neck p/u. But I'll change it up, depending on what sounds better.
When tapping, I keep a relationship of left hand position and right hand tapping. I.E. : fret on 12th fret, tap 20th or so. If the left hand goes to say 15th fret, tap at about 22nd. But I mix it up so dang much I can't explain it perfectly. But keeping that ratio between your hands helps bring about different tones and inflections. Give it a try.

I'd have to say it depends on the tone I am looking for, but I normally slap between the neck, and the neck pickup.
