used the thread title for a new thread about where do you stand when practicing. It has become obvious to me that where I stand in the room makes a huge difference in the tone and shape of the sound I hear. For instance, if I stand right next to the amp, it sounds pretty balanced, while 10 feet away is very bassey and I can feel it in my chest. Personally I stand about 6 or 7 feet away, kind of the best of both worlds.

I usually sit. ...and my strap is set up so that the bass is in the same position when I do stand. I don't always practice with an amp. When I do, it's usually the smallest one available.

When playing a gig, though, I almost always stand.

I would prefer to stand directly in front of my amp, facing it, which in practical terms means on the other side of the room. Unfortunately this means someone else has to stand right next to it, and that person will complain about not being able to hear anything else. So I stand there instead.

I have a very comfortable studio workspace arrangement. I generally sit on an armless swivel chair with my amp(s), pedalboard and cab(s) right behind me and my music stand, laptop and audio system right right in front of me. Everything is right within reach when I need to adjust anything or change something on the laptop or music stand.

In rehearsal I generally stand with my amp right behind me (within a few feet at most), pedalboard about where I will use it during live performances, and I'm usually on the drummers hi-hat side.

There’s a bit of physics at play I suspect - consider the wavelengths of the fundamentals versus the wavelengths of the various harmonics.

If the volume is loud enough, getting about 25 feet or so away from your amp is going to really bring out the bass.

Yes exactly!!! the furthest I can get from my amp is about 15 ft. because of the size of my music room, but it getts more and more bassy the further away I get!
