Where is the love 6.0?

I see lots of people selling their Genz Benz 6.0 and wonder why.
On the other hand I hear lots of good about them. What is it that people are unhappy about?

My opinion.. is that type of gear won't be for sale for long.. I own that stuff and it's amazing, especially with two cabinets.. loads of compliments on tone, etc.. it's amazing stuff. Where is this for sale? I am not doubting you, but might be interested in buying some more, or referring a friend who wants my setup.. again, I think it is prime stuff.. and won't take long to sell, if priced accordingly.

Only reason I haven't considered a Shuttle 6 is because it will not push my 2 4ohm 210 cabinets. So I remain with my Neo-Pak which WILL push 2ohms at 500w.

The Shuttle Max 12 however is a different story and would do what I need it to... I just remain very happy with my 8lb Neo-Pak.

This topic comes up all the time. What many don't take into consideration is the denominator. In other words, what is the percentage of new units that are put up for sale, given the total number sold.

When you take this into account, there are relatively few pieces of gear that have an 'unusually high' resell rate IMO.

Just was not getting used enough, I'm just too sold on the LM II

It sounded good very 3D mids and glassy highs not as good for me on the bottom as the LM II and the MB just seemed to have more overall push and I like the control layout, on the Mark.

... All of that said I did aquire a 3.0 and really like it as a backup/rehersal amp

I noticed the same thing. I suspect most people are actually happy with the 6.0 but want to upgrade to the 6.0max or 12.0max. There is a tendency for people to have a lot of GAS on this forum and gear turnover is pretty high. I think I've seen more LMII used sales btw... but that is likely people upgrading to F1s... Of course, there are going to be people who don't like the amps and want to sell them.

I don't see myself selling my 6.0 anytime soon as it has more than enough power, I/O and eq control for my needs. However, I am kicking myself now that the price has dropped by about $100!!!

the 12.0's EQ section, to me, is insane.. I am happy enough with my 6.0 to keep it for many years... until a 6.0 comes out that can do 4 4 ohms cabs.. @ 1800 watt total.. I will stick with the 6.0.. otherwise, it will never end.. MarkBass LM III, IV, V, VI.. Shuttle 12, 13, 14, 15, 7, 8, 9.. etc, etc, etc.. they laugh all the way to the bank, these manufacturers (and rightfully so).

I loved the light weight and small size of my Shuttle 6.0, but got rid of it because its sound and my sound weren't congruent with one another, no matter how I adjusted the knobs. Different strokes and all that...

I dont see much difference between this one and the GBE750 and GBE1200 other than missing rack mount ears. Shuttles are considerably lighter than the GBE's but the control layout looks identical. I have a shuttle 6.0 and is very portable but wont accept my GBE750 footswitch. One is a 6 pin the other a 5 pin.

Yes, like Ken said, they sold SO many of them it's actually a low percentage that get re-sold. The bottom line is that they were the "it" amp for a while here at TB (like the LMII for a while) and lots of folks bought one. But no one amp is for everyone, so the people who go for a cleaner SS sound didn't like them and sold them. IMO anyway.

You'll have to pry my cold, callused fingers off of mine.

I also think you are just looking at one segment of the market, Talkbass.. Here at Talkbass you will find many who buy an item just to try it out and flip it as soon as they can on to the next item. This says nothing negative about Genz, just that we have some gear whores abouts Plus there are those that bought one and it just wasn't their tone but they had to at least try it. Also, as Ken said there are many, many people who are terribly tickled pink happy and not selling theirs, you only see a slice of bass players here on Talkbass, but it's the good slice

Good point! I'm kind of a "gear whore gone straight" at least as far as amp heads are concerned. (is there a Springer show in there somewhere?)

I sold mine because of concern for lack of power @ 8 ohms. LMII kills it there. Plus it overdrives when you play with a pick and I want superclean all the time.

That said, I LOVED the fingerstyle tone and may very well get the 6.0 MAX which will do FET clean.

Just to clarify here... the difference in size and weight is huge... 42 lbs for the GBE-1200 and 6.75 lbs for the ShuttleMax 12.0, about 1/3 the cubic volume, a 5 band fixed eq on the 1200 and a 4 band w/ 2 sweeps on the Shuttle Max, rack mount ears are available for the Max as is a carry bag. The ShuttleMax has a high gain switched option that the GBE does not.

Your GBE-750 footswitch will not fit because the switching protocol is different... and mute was added on a seperate 1 button footswitch jack.

Im selling mine because I just wanted to try it out, plus it was a back up while my GBE 600 was in the shop. I only have one bass and 3 amps. I want another bass more than I want to keep this. Plus I love my 600 (and it goes down to 2 ohms).

I'm not selling mine. It is HUGE with my 4 ohm Schroeder 1215L. More power then I need 97% of the time.

I believe that nobody's mentioned the fact that most gear has to be practically GIVEN away here in the States, due to our crappy economy. BUT, the used Genz Shuttle 6.0s are selling, USUALLY within a day or two at $500 or even higher.... not far from what new ones sell for. And, $500 is WAY more than "artists" pay for new ones. I can't think of a better reason to sell one when your hurtin'.... lotta money quick . That doesn't mean that the sellers are thrilled to get rid of 'em.

I have one but haven't had a chance to put it thru it's paces w/ the band yet. I'm in love w/ my Carvin B800s in my 2 rig setup. But, if I like the Shuttle as much as I think I will, there'll be another one in my near future, and 2 B800s for sale.
