Looks like someone forgot to loosen the string tension when they stuck that thing in storage years ago.

I wish I could say that this was the only old MIJ bass from that era that I've ever seen that had a neck that badly bowed.... but it's not. The ones with the dark wood like that seem particularly prone to warping/bowing.
These types instruments are generaly of low quality, and are the instruments that gave "budget" instruments the stigma they have today.
When you hear some of us older players talking about how bad budget instruments used to be... this is what we'er talking about. I'd bet there's a non adjustable bridge hiding under the ash tray as well.
Great for a decoration, but that's about it.
At least the seller isn't misrepresenting it in any way.

It'd be great for playing while bow hunting, just stop playing, knock and arrow on the e string and fire!
