Where to rehearse?!?

depends on whatt you are looking for. if you want to rent by the hour then there is Capital Rehearsal. you pay for 3 hour blocks. there are a few other places around town too..

if you are looking for something more permanent then that gets tougher but there are places that do it. we have our own room at Capital that we share with 3 other bands. as long as we coordinate with the other bands we can use it whenever we want, including after hours when Capital is closed. i think rent is around $600/month but they don't always have a room available for "permanent" rent. $600 split across 4 bands is not too bad.

This is what we do. My share is $30 a month and we can play there 8 times guaranteed, and more if no one is in there. But most of us work during the day so we are really on negotiating nights and weekend days.

When I was a kid me and my fellow music buddies would just go around to local businesses (strip malls mostly) and ask if anybody was interested in renting any empty storage space they had in there basements. Worked out great and actually caught on with other business owners and was an "in" thing back then.
This is a great idea. Warehouses in industrial areas are ideal. Lots of space, away from residences.

I seem to recall @Felken is in the east end and he's a youngster. Maybe transport is an issue? The place on Canotek that @eriky4003 mentioned is a good bet unless you want to travel further. All the rent-by-the hour places in town are competitive in pricing. CRS is the shabbiest of the bunch but honestly all of them are perfectly fine.

I've got buddies in the commercial real estate business - if I was ever hard-up for a space to jam, I get them to lend me the keys to whatever useful property they have on their cards for a night or two. As kids we used to rehearse in a gas station that one of the guys worked at (after it closed).

Aside: one drummer I played with proposed to charge us "band practice rent" on a basement studio apartment he was renting to an international student. He made the international student bugger off for a few hours weekly so we could make noise and stink the place up. I didn't last long in that band with that kind of double dipping nonsense.
